literally asked you to like come on this podcast and then like I guess life just

happened Life happened and we never got to do it But here we are a year later

taking some time out of your day Um so my first question is for like people who

don't know what sound healing is what exactly is sound healing

okay Yeah So um again thank you for having me I'm excited to be sharing this

Um so what is soundb therapy for those of uh who've never heard of it or are

interested in it but don't know much about it Um the way I kind of explain it is in in simple terms it's a healing

modality for anxiety relief Um it really it's like an immersive experience in

sound vibrations that promote healing and well-being Um so the reason it's

called sound bath therapy is it mimics like uh an immersive experience like you

would get in a bath but there is no water involved There is sound vibration involved So um it's likened to a bath

because you get that immersive experience um in sound vibrations So usually in a sound bath um you

experience sound vibrations through quartz crystal bowls Tibetan bowls Um

there are some chimes and gongs and tuning forks in some sound baths It just depends on which one you take Um but

each tool kind of has their own healing techniques and it's really just to um

promote relaxation and balance in the body and in the mind Okay cool Um so how did you actually get

involved with sound healing because have you done this like for forever or is this something like you've recently got

involved with no Okay so yeah that's a great question Um no I have not been in

2:55

So my story is kind of unique and I it may relate to some in your audience Um because I was not very woowoo at the

beginning So and I would have never thought that I would have gotten into something like this

Um but my journey kind of has a lot of twists and turns and I feel like um when

3:14

people are going through their spiritual journey spiritual awakening uh sometimes it starts with trauma and that's kind of

3:20

where um my story began and then it kind of led me to sound bath therapy So um to

3:26

kind of explain um so my um my husband and I have been married almost 20 years

3:33

Um we got married very young We were uh both 19 when we got married and um my

3:39

husband has a genetic disorder to alcoholism So um at the time we didn't realize that but about a year into our

3:46

marriage um he got heavily into alcohol and he's struggled with alcoholism for

3:52

almost 20 years Um and I think during that period of time um I was young and I

3:59

didn't really understand much and I was searching um and I think most people do

4:04

that um you search and I had major anxiety I had um just you know typical

4:14

um things that happen when you live with an alcoholic And um I was searching for

4:20

a modality or a healing modality to help with my anxiety Um and I tried lots of things I tried um yoga and I tried you

know odd things I kind of stepped out of my comfort zone and I I went and I did force bathing once and I um saw this

thing online where this woman was promoting sound bath therapy as a relaxation modality and I thought "Okay

well let's go." her description on her website was a little bit woowoo and I had not really

4:47

been into the woo woo and so I'm also kind of I was at the time I was a little

4:53

bit of a hypochondric as well like I didn't really understand what what it was going to do to my body and so but I

4:59

was curious about it and it wouldn't go away so I booked a session with her and

I remember um I was actually kind of scared to do it because I didn't know what it was or how it would affect me

5:10

and so I begged one of my my best friend to go with me And on her website she um

5:15

promoted that it was going to bring healing and relaxation to you and it would also um she also said we're going

5:21

to do manifestation while we're there I did not know right

that sounds fun I manifestation is right up my alley right

um and I did not know what manifestation was either Like I'm I was a newbie girl I was a newbie And so um she talked

about this weird thing called manifestation And we would write down what we wanted on a piece of paper and

burn it into flames And I thought that was the craziest thing And I told my

5:52

bestie I was like "Okay let's go and we'll just do the sound bath part We're not going to do that weird manifestation

5:58

thing that she's promoting at the end." Right And um and I will say that when I

went um it was so cool like my first experience um it was in this house and

6:10

this house was full of crystals and stones which again I did not know anything about and I just remember going

6:17

into the bathroom and she had this like waterfall and all these stones and crystals in the bathtub and it was just

6:22

so the vibe was so zen and uh I just immediately felt so relaxed when I even

6:28

just walked into the building like I had um she had blankets and pillows and just incense going and it was just a

6:36

beautiful atmosphere sphere and but I do remember laying there She explained how

6:41

it was going to work and we would lay down and just immerse ourselves in the sound It was going to be an hour and I

6:47

was scared the whole time I didn't want to drift off I was I was worried about what it was doing I felt like I was

6:54

fully present the whole time but I realized later that I I kind of had like got a little bit into a meditative state

which I had never done before either Yeah Oh so that was the first time you've been in like a meditative kind of

state Yes Yes Exactly Yeah girl I told you I was totally new to all of this I

was not Oh yes So and what's so interesting is

that I couldn't I she you know she described that you would um kind of feel

7:24

relaxed and and your your brain would kind of go into like this sleepy theta state I never got that Not one Um I was

7:32

too nervous Um but I did feel so much better after Um which is so interesting

I I felt wonderful after And what's the the funniest part about the story is

7:44

that at the end you know she's passing out the fire paper and she's telling everyone to write down their manifestation And I looked at my c or I

looked at my bestie and I told her I was like you know what let's just do it We we feel good We just did this sound bath

We feel amazing Let's just do the whole thing you know let's just go for it And um so I just remember at the time um we

both wrote down a manifestation and I will tell you this we both both of our

manifestations came true after that sound bath and what did Yes Okay Can you

8:18

share what theation was yes Well this is

getting fun This is fun Yeah this is juicy fun right um so she put down she

wanted a convertible her dream convertible Okay she wanted her dream car convertible It was a Mercedes I put

8:35

down that I wanted my dream body Okay because I wanted I was you know I was about 50 pounds overweight and I just I

8:42

wanted that dream body and so I wrote down I want my dream body or I have my dream body right that's how you manifest

And um we burned the paper Uh about three months later uh my my best friend

8:54

her husband surprised her with a Mercedes convertible and she was Yeah

8:59

shocked That is crazy She was shocked right and um and I and I had forgotten

about it Like I had forgotten We both actually forgot that we had manifested She got her Mercedes and completely

forgot about it Like that she I was just about to ask you did she even remember what she wrote on the piece of She

didn't No Oh my gosh That same year um I also had hired a professional coach to

help me lose weight I lost 50 pounds and I had I got in the best shape I have

ever been that year And it wasn't until a year later that we both realized our

9:36

manifestations had come through And we both kind of talked about it and we're like "Oh my gosh like our manifestations

9:43

came through from that sound bath." That is wild So when you were writing

9:50

your like you want your dream body did you like was your intention to like lose the 50 pounds or hire a personal trainer

or you were just like I want a dream body so you know what's funny is like because I never manifested I wasn't

specific I just said I want my dream body Um or no you know what I actually

10:08

wrote the words I actually wrote was I want to be in the best shape of my life And that's exactly what I got because

during my whole lifetime that was the best shape I had ever been in my entire lifetime So the universe gave me exactly

what I asked for That is wild The fact that you got you got like you hired a

10:27

personal trainer in that year You lost the weight You got into the best shape and then your best friend is over here

10:33

getting her car that she wanted Like that is that is wild

10:39

right so what's really funny is like after that like after so it took us about a year um and and during that

10:46

period of time I was still going through my traumas with my husband and still trying to find ways to release stress

10:53

and anxiety and and heal my mind Um and I you know I I had a lot of fight or

10:58

flight and I also had um health issues where I had so much anxiety I was getting um panic attacks and I was

11:06

nervous and things like that So I I was still searching Um but I just remember after that sound bath I was hooked Um I

11:13

loved the way I felt after and I kept taking them Um now I will say the first

11:20

time I did it I felt amazing The second time I did it um I also felt amazing The third time I did it I felt horrible

after the sound Yep I felt horrible Um and I was not expecting that Um it felt

11:33

like when I I went in super happy super chipper ready to heal and just have that

11:39

relaxation sound bath And after the sound bath I felt like I wanted to just ball my eyes out And I remember asking

the teacher I was like "Is this normal to feel this way?" Like I I don't know what's going on And and at that time um

11:53

my life had crescendoed into um very a very um how do I word this uh it was

just very stressful and um I was going through a lot during that period of time and I think that was what prompted that

sound bath and I felt like I had cried the whole time even though I didn't shed

12:13

not one tear um during the sound bath but it felt like my body had just been run over by a truck like you you know

12:19

how when you cry for like 10 hours you feel horrible after um exhausted right exhausted physically and that's exactly

12:26

how I felt um and she kind of explained to me that sometimes the body releases things um during a sound bath especially

12:33

if it's on the forefront of your mind and it needs to come out and be felt Um and that's exactly what happened to me

12:39

in that experience So after that third experience I wanted to know how it worked Um I was hooked on it I what is

12:48

it doing to my body why is it giving me these reactions you know I was just I was so interested in what it was doing

12:55

to me that it made me want to learn more about it if that makes sense Um

and then I ended up um in my journey spiritual journey um I ended up finding

13:09

a group that um I wanted to learn more about manifestation as well because

13:15

since it had come true I wanted to know how that happened And um so I ended up

13:20

joining a a class and um took a certification in soundbath therapy from

13:28

a a manifestation guru and met some amazing beautiful women in that group

13:34

And in that class um one of the things that she said was go for your dreams Go

13:39

for your dreams Do something that you would never think you would do And I thought to myself I would like to to do

13:46

soundbite therapy I've been taking these classes for years I want to do that And

13:52

that's what prompted me to launch my own business And so um that was kind of the

13:57

turning point of how I even got into this modality And then from there it's just been an exciting adventure and ride

Right So my question is like how long from like the third sound bath

14:11

experience that you had like you were upset right did you go into that one

14:16

like wanting to relax or did you have a a different intention

14:22

yes So and again I I didn't really understand that setting an intention was

14:27

important for a sound bath Um that's I was just basically going to relax Um

14:32

that time it's interesting My husband I wanted him to try a sound bath and he

14:38

had never done it before and we had signed up together and I had gone and I

14:44

was going to meet him there and um he ended up working late and couldn't make it and I was just anxious and fretting

14:50

the whole time and she locked the doors and she was like "We have to start I'm sorry He can't come in." And so right So

you were there basically by yourself yes I was there by myself I had been going through some stuff anyway in my life and

then the anxiety of not having him come on time I think all of that was like right at the front of my mind Yeah I was

15:12

going to ask did that make you more anxious and do you think that's what kind of brought out whatever was

15:18

released during that sound bath because that's what it kind of sounds like Yeah Yep Yep Yeah And and you know sometimes

15:24

the body holds on to energies or emotions that you don't realize you you have Um well for me anyway um and I

15:32

think that's the body needed to release it and I had too many stresses going on

15:38

during that time period so it needed to come out and um and it was the perfect way to come out I just didn't understand

15:44

why it was coming out Right So how long

15:50

from going from that sound bath and you did your research and then getting you

15:57

got certified correct and then you took a manifestation class

or did you or did you take a manifestation class and then get certified like how

16:08

great questions Great questions Um so I had joined um a course and um I can link

16:15

it for you It's uh it's called Life-Changing Energy by Vicky Gold and she's one of the best teachers um that

16:21

teaches about soundbath therapy I I signed up for one of her courses and I

16:26

was slowly taking it just to understand what sound therapy was I had no intention of like actually like starting

16:32

a business or doing anything with it Okay I just really wanted Yeah I wanted to understand it and she was very

16:38

detailed on how it worked Um and it wasn't until I started learning more about it and that it brought healing it

16:45

it brought healing to people Um I was a number one proponent of somebody who needed to be healed and I had something

16:52

that I could share to other people and it wasn't until I took my manifestation course that I decided I needed to share

16:58

this with other people Um but at first yeah it it uh I was in the the

life-changing energy sound bath therapy course for about almost a year before um

17:11

I took my manifestation course And then that's when Yeah Um so it did take me a

17:17

while I'm pretty slow when it comes to that uh stuff but it took me a minute Yeah But that's pretty good Like because

the slower you go the more you can absorb like the knowledge and like practice and just really take your time

into you know what you're learning So um so then how do how does sound healing

work like when you when you're going into a sound bath like you can lay down or sit So like when you get into like

17:45

that I guess meditative state first how long does it take to get into a meditative state and okay like what

17:54

what's going on when you are actually listening to the sound

okay um great questions because um that's what I wanted to know as well I

was like what is happening to my body how does this work um so I think uh it

18:12

depends on you Every person will experience sound uh waves differently Um

18:17

for me it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to get fully relaxed I'm in my head so much Um I can't relax Yeah it's it's

18:24

difficult for me to kind of release and let go Um so but if you do some grounding techniques before a sound bath

18:31

it's much easier Your um and your teacher whoever's hosting the class will

18:36

kind of help you uh get down into that space Um a lot of times they'll start with some breathing exercises or they'll

18:43

start with some sort of meditation to kind of help you come down um and get out of your head a little bit So

18:50

um so how does it work um so there are

18:56

um the way I kind of break it down um the sound bowls themselves are all tuned

to specific frequencies that match frequencies in your body Um and the way

19:08

I like to kind of explain that um there's three different types of pillars that I it helps me understand it a

19:15

little bit better Um vibrational healing Vibrational healing is what happens in

19:21

your body when the sound waves hit your body and your body responds to it Um so

19:27

the way I like to explain that to people is our bodies are mostly made up of water Um and we know how sound waves are

19:33

responsive to water um those sound waves are kind of moving around things in your body Um which then promotes that balance

19:40

and harmony Um so your water in your body is kind of moving around as the

19:45

sound sound waves are kind of hitting you Um and you're listening to the sounds not just through your ears but

19:50

through your whole body You're absorbing it all Um it's hard to explain that to people until you actually sit in a sound

19:56

bath and then you'll understand what I mean Um because you you can feel it like all over your whole body and and that's

kind of fun Um and then I also like to explain that each mole um dependent on

20:09

the soundb are um measured by something called the sofasio frequencies And um

20:16

those are sound frequencies that are measured in hertz And the sofasio

20:22

frequencies are the primary frequencies are all measured in specific um hertz

20:28

that all kind of are associated with different healing techniques within your body And again that could be

20:34

um as you go down the rabbit hole of learning about sagasio frequencies It it

20:40

sounds like a lot because we've got it does that have their own frequency and then we've got a whole different soveio

20:47

frequencies like okay we're going down the rabbit hole I love it We are Yep We

20:54

are Um so and and and you know what also is measured by hertz is brain waves Um

21:01

brain waves are measured in hertz Um and there's different stages of brain waves Um alpha beta theta Um when you start

21:08

researching that as well The sound waves and sound frequencies coming from the bolds also correlate with those which

21:14

helps you get into that meditative state Um it's matching up with some of those brain wave frequencies which then kind

21:19

of lulls you down Um and kind of helps you relax and that's what shuts down your nervous system and kind of helps

21:25

you promotes that relaxation and healing effect in your body um when you're in the middle of a sound bath Um and then I

21:33

like to talk about how that affects the actual body because you the bulls themselves are

21:40

emitting sound but how does that affect your body and your body is also measured

21:47

in hertz It's also measured in energy and um it depending on kind of how you

21:53

learn energy centers in the body Um some people call them chakras um from the

21:58

veta system Um and then some you know Chinese medicine call them uh twin lungs

22:03

which are five m major energy centers Uh so it just depends on kind of where you learn about the energy centers in your

22:09

body Um but from what I've learned there are hundreds upon hundreds of energy

22:14

centers in your body We just kind of narrow them down to the seven Um and as those major energy centers in your body

22:21

um line up with the frequencies in the bowl that also kind of promotes that healing They match together They vibrate

22:27

together Um which then kind of makes you feel funny It kind of makes you feel like something's happening to you in the

22:35

sound bath Yes So Right Right So like I was going to say like one of the very

22:41

first sound baths I ever attended So actually my first sound bath I went to

22:46

was not a sound bath It was a cacao ceremony And I had no idea what cacao

22:53

was I didn't know what what I was getting into So my friend had basically

22:58

like invited me and I was like "Yeah sure I'll go Sounds cool I'll try it out." Whatever

So it was like this cacao ceremony and it was in February so it was kind of like a a self-love type of thing And

yeah so I love that So I went went into this not knowing anything Although I did

23:20

call the center because I was like "What is cacao?" I had no idea what it was Like I was like "Is this am I going to

23:25

hallucinate am I going to trip out like what is this because I cannot take this for my job right?" Like I was literally

23:31

freaking out So I called them and they were like "No it's fine." Like um you

23:36

know you can get it at the store Like it's not you're not going to hallucinate or anything like that I was like "Okay

23:42

cool." So as we do the ceremony she she passes the bowl around for us to take a

23:48

little tiny piece like and to try it And I took my piece and I passed the bowl

23:55

And then she starts saying "Caca will open up your your heart and your vessels." And I'm over here going "Oh

what?" Like "Why didn't you tell me this before I took it in my mouth?" I was literally freaking out

So yeah So then she gives us um after we get to try it she gives us like a very

24:16

tiny little cup of the drink the actual cacao drink So since I'm freaking out I

24:23

literally just put it to my lips just to get a taste I don't even I don't even drink it because I'm freaking out So

we're doing that and then you know we get to journal and um like I guess kind

24:35

of share like while why we were there and what brought us there and things like that And then at the very end she

24:42

was like "Get in a comfortable position You can you know stay sitting or you can lie down." So everybody laid down And I

24:48

was like "Okay well I guess I'll lay down too I don't know." So I lay down and she's just like "Now just relax

Everything's good." I'm like "Okay." So my brain is constantly just going a

million miles a minute Like am I doing this right it what am I supposed to do like what's going on and then I'm like

actually this is quite relaxing Like I love I love the sound Like it's really nice And then all of a

sudden pops in my head You have a lot of work to do And I

25:22

was like huh whoa Where did this come from yeah I'm just like hold on Who said

25:28

that and what what where did this come from i don't even understand what that means Wait a minute So did you hear a

25:33

voice or did you hear just your own voice telling you this like how was that i I I really don't know how to describe

25:40

it Like I don't think it was my voice because it's not like I was thinking

25:45

about it Like I was just in there thinking like am I doing this right am I relaxing right like you know just going

a mile a minute and then all of a sudden you have a lot of work to do And I'm just like whoa whoa whoa hold on Who

said that cuz it wasn't me Neighbor Did you think your neighbor said it to you like thank you Well I No because it was

like in my head So it wasn't like Oh it wasn't like I heard it with my ears It's

26:11

like I heard it in my head Like you're thinking but it's not you thinking like

26:16

wow I guess that's the best way I can describe it Okay cool So I'm going over there like

26:22

okay cool Like I like this Like this is interesting What is this sound bath

26:27

stuff and like that sound bath only lasted maybe 15 minutes It was not cuz

26:33

it was at the very end of the ceremony So it was just a quick little 15inute I

26:39

guess relax kind of thing and then you go home So after that I was like I

26:45

really love the sound bath part I'm not like I don't want to do another cacao ceremony to have to get the sound bath

26:51

So I started researching who does just sound baths because I wanted another like thought part Yeah I wanted another

26:59

like does this always happen what is this so I was looking for um just a sound

bath and it took me a while to find somebody who actually just does sound bath by itself because a lot of people

27:12

it seems like they were incorporating other things that you know I wasn't really interested in Yeah And I found

27:20

somebody who did like an hour sound bath So I went to the studio and I went a couple of times and every time I went my

27:28

stomach hurt Really your stomach hurt my stomach hurt

And I was just like why does my stomach hurt like what is going on wait so

27:39

describe what what what do you mean it hurt like was it a dull pain or was it a sharp pain or nausea like what was the I

27:48

would say it was a mix of like a little bit nauseous feeling

27:53

sometimes not all the time A little bit nauseous and then like maybe I guess a dull like

27:59

achy up on the top like up here Weird Okay Like above your belly button type

Yeah that's where it was hurting And I was like well this is just weird Like what is going on and it happened every

time I went to his sound bath specifically Really did it did it last the whole sound pass or was it just

28:17

parts of it um usually just parts of it like because in the beginning obviously

28:23

my head is just thinking so I'm you know waiting to get into that like relaxed

28:28

state and then when I finally do like it's more towards like towards the end I

28:33

would say I would start having like this stomach ache and then like it would last like I would go home and I would still

28:39

feel nauseous and my stomach was like kind of upset and I was just like what in the world is going on like this is

28:45

odd Interesting So you know knowing what you know now do you do you think you know

28:51

why that happened to you in the sound in the sound desk with him so I do and I

28:57

and I think it has to do with like you were talking about like the chakra centers So we have one that's um right

above your belly button and that's kind of basically where I was hurting And um

29:10

I think it had to do with that because after after that I got a Reiki session

29:15

done Okay Yeah this is a whole another topic So

29:21

I got a Reiki session done and I felt nauseous and so did the the Reiki

29:27

practitioner She felt nauseous as well So she felt she felt my nauseousness and

29:34

then she like told me some stuff about um I was probably feeling like unworthy

29:39

Something happened in my childhood where I felt unworthy and I was like "Okay that makes sense." So like I kind of

29:44

like went in and you know I had been already doing like um shadow work and

29:50

inner child work so I knew a little bit about that So I started doing that and then I finally got my answer So now when

29:58

I go to sound baths I don't get the stomach ache I think it has cleared Wow Yeah You know that is so interesting

that you you know your going to the sound bath were was actually like

30:10

unblocking some some an energy center in you and you didn't realize that until you started taking other healing

30:15

modalities right um right But knowing that those soundback sessions were 100%

working on your body like healing you that is wild That is wild because I didn't go there for that I went in there

because I literally enjoyed the little 15minute session that I originally had and I was like "Well this is cool I want

30:34

another like um I don't know thought or download whatever it was I want another one of those That sounds cool." And then

I go in there and I'm like physically like hurting and a little nauseous and I'm like "Well what?" And I asked the

30:48

protect practitioner "Is this normal?" And he said "Yes it can be normal." Um

30:53

and I guess obviously it just depends on each individual person like what they're

30:58

going through what they need you know I guess cleared out or aligned or whatever Like so obviously I needed that energy

center to be cleared Yeah You know I'm so glad this is why I think it's so

important for teachers to really talk with their clients after because sometimes don't understand what they're

going through Um and it's nice that he kind of sat you down and said "No this is this is very normal for you." Um the

person is different depend dependent on you know where you're at in your journey but now as I I've taken a sound bath a

couple weeks ago and I did see colors so I think it just depends on you know where you're at mentally but um I I do

remember getting a download once um you know in my personal life I I um I have a

9-year-old and when he was around uh five or six he was diagnosed with autism

and ADHD And I remember it was it was a a a world that I had never been in And I

I was learning as much as possible and it was very stressful And I just remember um you know having stressful

events around you know teachers and school and um explaining and trying to

advocate for my child And um I went to a sound bath during that period of time And while I was in that sound bath I got

a vision of my son and he's standing there just beautiful as always And then

his face turned into this horrible monster and he grew fangs and like and

then he lunged at me and attacked me in

and after I I spoke to the practitioner and I was telling her you know what I saw this vision and I was like what is

going on yeah What does that mean like what is that and she was like I think you're not accepting you know there this

monster you're viewing it as a monster Um Oh okay Diagnosis you know like

because and it's a monster to you because you don't understand it and you're fighting um to to have him

accepted by society right and um if you change your mindset around it and view

it as as you know a blessing view it as a gift view it as you know and she kind

of really walked me through a lot of that Um and so I to the answer to your question is I did think I got a vision I

think I got something that helped me It was a stepping stone towards changing something in my life for the better um

it brought something to my mind to pay attention to and understand and then move on from it and and um really try to

embrace that part of my life So I believe yes I have gotten specific

direction in a sound bats just a little differently than just hearing the words I think I would rather go to words I

know every time I go to a sound bath I'm like can I hear something because I was kind of cool right like I'm like that

again but I think that also depends on each person too you know how you receive

things um is also important you know if you if you hear things or see things it it's all dependent on the person right

so um and how you need to receive that at that time so I don't know if I would have received it if I had heard it in

words more than the effect of seeing my beautiful child as a monster really affected me So right I feel like that's

important that to to to embrace what you feel in a sound bath And um I've I've

been to places like a lot of people say I go to places and I have done that like I will see visions in my mind of

beautiful fields and lagoons and even celestial places um and that's beautiful

as well So I feel like um every person has a different experience dependent on

you know where you are mentally and just how you want to receive the sound bath

Do you think um intentions help with what happens during a sound bath yes Yes

I do Um and my thought on that is that

um when you're in a sound bath your energy centers your endocrine centers

your everything your meridian centers everything in your body is connecting to these sound frequencies and you're all

over the place So when you set an intention I think it helps direct it Um

and if you tell your mind this is what I would like to get out of the sabbath this is a question I want answered This

is something I would like to feel Um you know if you set that intention you almost always almost always will get the

answer to your question or you'll get that result from it Um so I think

setting intentions are really important Yeah Um because typically I would not

set intentions like I would just go And I remember there was one sound bath that

I went to that was actually a shamanic sound journey which that's a whole

different thing Like I thought I was going in there and I was going to you know relax and be fine And then I'm

laying there and you know he's got everything He's got the gongs He's got bowls and the pyramid and chimes and

like the rattles Like he has literally everything And um I think Finn is getting my cat

cute Um but anyway he like he had everything So I'm laying there and I'm

like "Okay cool." Like we're lay here and be be good and relax No no no no I

felt so that was the only time I've ever felt scared in a sound bath I literally

was scared and I was like I wanted it to be over I was like "Hurry up I don't like this I want out of this." So I

don't know what the difference is I do You have any idea what the difference is between like a typical sound bath and a

shamanic one because I don't really know too much about shamanism but apparently that's

completely different At least that's what I experienced Yeah You know that is interesting I I

also am not a an expert on shamanism I I've I've done a little research on it Um but uh I would assume um that that

sound bath perhaps there were things that your your conscious self was not

ready to receive quite yet Um which was in turn making you afraid Um I actually

think that if if you do feel afraid um that it's it's not for you Um I think

that be gentle with yourself um allow yourself to feel afraid and then and you

can decide to opt out of a sound bath I I don't think that it's rude to leave a

sound bath if you feel very uncomfortable Um I to honestly I haven't had that many people feel very

uncomfortable and I myself have never felt uncomfortable enough to to to want

the experience to end Um but I'm not sure Yeah I'm not sure kind of what was

what you were going through at the time Do you remember kind of what emotional state you were in at that time all I

remember is I was just scared and I wanted it to be done Like I was just like I don't for some reason I do not

like this I don't want to be here I want it to be over you know and I and I think I went in there wanting to feel relaxed

and calm and maybe the intent of because the practitioner's intent might not have

been the same as mine because that also plays an effect right yes Yes it does So

I I don't because like I said I don't really know shamanism and I probably should have like I don't know researched

a little more but that's just me I tend to just jump into things and see what happens Like I mean that's how I

literally found found sound healing to begin with right because I went to that ceremony not knowing what what that was

So I you know I went um I've had a teacher tell me that before I think teachers set their own intentions or the

practitioner themselves set their own intention Um I've been to a few sound baths where the practitioner will tell

us this is not a sound bath for relaxation This is a sound bath to stir some crap up And

so I think it's important that's good to know right but I do think it's important

to to research that sound bath um to begin with because there are different types um because the practitioner will

set intentions and play the bulls with those intentions So uh research that sound bath before you sign up for one um

just so you know what you're getting into That's a that's a good point Absolutely Absolutely Um now I want to

get into the instruments themselves So because there are so many instruments

we've got chimes we've got gongs we've got pyramids we've got crystal bowls we've got Tibetan bowls Like what have

you found is the difference between all these instruments like are is there a

difference like Yes Yes Great question Um yes So um that

also fascinated me as well I wanted to know um so the there's some two major uh

sound bowls the crystal quartz bowls and the Tibetan bowls Um and I wanted to and

when I was getting into Zamba therapy I wondered which one I should go for because when you buy bowls for yourself

they're they're very expensive and so deciding which route you want to go is kind of hard to to decide on Um so the

way I like to explain it um crystal quartz bowls are made from exactly what

43:53

it sounds like crystal quartz um it's a stone it's a rock and as we know crystals hold crystalline structures in

43:59

them So um they hold a lot of energy and the way they're made um they're blown like glass So they're put under very

44:06

high temperatures They're shaped and um they can control the thickness and the

44:11

tune of the bowl Um so I like to tell people that you know quartz crystal

44:17

bowls are a little more modern and uh they're a little more precise They can be tuned specifically to specific

44:24

frequencies Um which is really nice if you want to target specific frequencies on your own body Um they have a really

44:31

clear vibrant tone and they um they're very celestial so they they kind of make

44:37

you they make you feel like you're rising up Um and so I don't know if you've experienced that yourself like um

playing your bowls as well but definitely makes you kind of feel more astral Um and that's the only way I know

how to really describe it Um I think I feel like because I you know I have a

bowl here in the back which is crystal and typically when I play sometimes I will put myself in a trance So is that

the kind of the same thing as kind of being I guess lifted

Yeah Because if not then I don't think I've ever experienced that specifically

But I know I do put myself in a trance when I am playing Yeah

So honestly both bowls could put you in a translike state because I feel like

the translike state is more of a meditative state Um you're being lulled down into that that part where you're

almost asleep but you're not quite asleep because you're still alert and aware but you're very close to sleep Um

they call that I think it's the theta state right so both types of bowls can put you in that type of arena Um I guess

the way I would describe it for crystal quartz is you feel very um floaty like

you feel like um you're kind of drifting You feel like you're kind of floating out of your body just a little bit Um

you feel like you're kind of drifting around to different places um the flow of colors can come in and you just feel

very um astral is the word I want to use but I know I'm not describing it correctly but it's just very it's just a

very like um lifted feeling Um you feel excited and happy and just floaty and

just kind of um I don't know more

um I don't know how to describe this Um I guess take a sound bath and you'll be able to feel it What it feels

like the So when we're talking about how you feel now the Tibetan bowls are

different and I didn't think that they would make you feel any different but they do And maybe this will help describe what it feels like um being

more astral with the courts bull So the Tibetan bulls Um now Tibetan bulls have

a really long steeped history into spiritual practices They've been around for a really really long time Um and

they their spiritual practices are kind of tied to the Himalayan region and they are handcrafted and most Tibetan bulls

today are crafted with seven different metals Um and copper is one of them but

you know tin and iron and and mercury and things like that are connected into these Tibetan bowls And they have a very

rich aloe sound like a very grounding deeply resonate deep deep sound which

47:27

pulls you down Um and it feels like it almost feels like you're being pressed

47:33

into the ground You're being pulled into the ground It's like you have roots coming out of your body stretching down

47:39

into the ground and you're just pulling yourself down down down So um I think it

47:45

still gets you in that meditative state but it's a lot different than the crystal bolt You don't feel floaty at

47:51

all You feel very anchored um when you listen to a Tibetan soundbath So does

that help kind of Yeah because that's one thing I have not experienced is going to a Tibetan sound bath Everything

that I've been to had they have used crystal bowls and I don't have any

Tibetan bowls Um I have crystal So that's very interesting that basically

the crystal makes you go up and then like the Tibetan is like more grounding and helping you ground out

That's been my experience Now if you talk to someone else who has played both maybe they may have a different definition but um that has been my

personal experience with feeling the way these bulls feel Um and I would say if

people are torn between which one let's say you're getting into sound therapy and you you want to try both um let your

intuition tell you which one you need Um because that's to me that's the most important part I think intuition will

tell you which one is for you Um and listen to it Listen to that intuition

Right Okay Um do you have a favorite instrument

favorite instrument Um that's a good question So I love one of my quartz my

quartz crystal bowls Um I love the throat chakra bowl um for some reason

And again we can this is probably a whole another subject but um the bowls themselves kind of tell me which one to

play during a sound bath And the throat chakra bowl always sounds so beautiful

She is always beautiful She never fails me She will sing high and

long every single sound bath So it makes me wonder if every person in my sound

bath um classes need something to do with their throat chakra Right Because

it never fails right but so far that has been not that I'm picking favorites Um

because you I know right they're all beautiful in their own way

But I do love the way the throat uh frequency sounds It's a very beautiful sound So I would say that was my

gong on the dancing winchime is specific to a frequency so it matches with the bulls too Um so they have tuned it

singing pyramids too They're beautiful Um whoever's listening you can you can Google these and just kind of see um

because they all sound so pretty and they're they have different sounds to them Um and one of my favorite one of my

favorite tools is the Koshy chimes Um and I think because they just have the

most beautiful sound every single one of them And there's four four distinct Koshi chimes that are distinct to the

elementals So you have earth fire air and water And each one sounds so

beautiful It just sounds so beautiful So if you ever have a chance to play with any of those in a store go for it

a sound bath um usually you just bring yourself in a very relaxed outfit Um I

just say you know yoga pants or sweatpants or whatever is going to help you stay relaxed Um when you enter into

the studio um that I host some of my classes with um you'll be embraced in

you'll see mats with pillows and blankets and eye masks um just kind of on the ground for you You can lay down

you can sit up in a Indian style you can you know however you feel comfortable um

experiencing the soundbath Uh I like to tell people that if you lay down you'll it it's easier to get into that

meditative state because you're you're allowing your body to relax But again if that's not something that you can do you

can easily get the same benefits by sitting up Um I wouldn't stand but I I might lean against something if that's

possible Um and then usually uh we will start the sound bath with a very um

grounding meditation And when I say meditation I mean um just a a nice

little breath work Let's breathe a few deep breaths Um let's kind of focus our

consciousness on relaxing our toes and our legs and our lower back and our shoulders And it just kind of helps

bring you down a little Um and then I usually play the the sound

bowls where you're laying down with your eye mask for about I'd say 45 minutes Um

I generally like to go about 45 minutes and then I leave 15 minutes to kind of bring everyone back up Um so in my

particular case I feel like it takes about 20 minutes to kind of turn my brain off and get into that meditative

state and then I enjoy the sound bath and then you kind of allow people to kind of float back up out of the sound

bath So typically a sound bath would would be about an hour Um so just kind

of count on that that you're going to be there for about an hour and it's a very relaxed feeling You feel like you are

completely awake and alert the whole time but then when you sit up after the sound baths you're like was I asleep

i've experienced that Yes I'm just like wait a minute that was not an hour That was about 15 minutes right and then I

look and I'm like okay it was an hour It was an hour right my bad

Uh yeah and in my class I like to allow people to just come back when they're ready Uh because some people need a

moment to just you know get out of that state and just usually at the end of the

sound bath um I allow people to kind of come out of it at their own pace Um so

sometimes people like to just lay there for a minute with their eyes closed and just come back when they feel ready Some

people kind of roll over and just lay there for a while just to kind of um come back and ground themselves again

And then for me personally in my class I like to offer some hot tea after just so everyone can kind of sit around discuss

what what they you know the experience that they had sip on a little you know

um herbal tea and then um leave when they're ready So it's a very relaxing

type atmosphere that allows you to kind of take your time based on you know how you feel during the sound bath So what

a yoga studio where people are coming just to relax and enjoy themselves And then I've done um a few sound baths in

the corporate world for uh corporate corporations And then I've done a couple like I've done a women's retreat once

and um and then I do some for some um like uh I do some for like a

um counseling center Um but I will say so dependent upon who is in the class

and usually I don't always know intuition really tells me what to set as an intention A lot of times it's just

healing I I set the intention to send out relaxation and healing

energy to my audience Um I did have one sound bath where um a woman showed

almost everyone canceled and it was just one woman that showed up and she came in Yep She came in Everyone cancelled

"Today is my husband's oneyear anniversary of his death." And um I came

to treat myself because today has been a very hard day And I decided in that

sound bath to send out love Um that was my pure intention I just kept intending

love the entire sound bath and she told me after that she felt the most loving

embrace um during that sound bath right and so I do think that the teacher's intention
